Ville orchestre

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Ville orchestre, the new spring installation that will embellish the Promenade des Artistes for the next five years.

Premiering in Spring 2022, the musical, interactive, and highly colorful work of Robocut studio, Dpt. and Vallée Duhamel, invites people to become musicians.

City orchestra invites young and old to get together, let off steam, laugh and explore together! Ville orchestre invites passers-by to use their feet and hands to generate music on 4 distinct modules that take us back to childhood. Each module, created by Robocut, features a particular interaction and a musicality of its own. Some contribute to the melody, others apply filters or affect the rhythm of the composition. Participants can focus on just one of the modules or go through the entire course according to their interests or the time they have.

  1. Méli-mélo: This instrument is made up of two modules resembling turntables. The first acts as a track selector. The second module allows visitors to modulate/scratch the sound, like on a vinyl.
  2. Pas à Pas: This module is made up of small podiums that are activated by jumping on them, like trumpet keys. Each step produces a sound, which also provokes a sound response from the installation, reminiscent of the Simon visual and musical game of our childhood.
  3. Carillon: Participants are invited to hit chimes, similar to pear balloons, to generate melodies .
  4. Concerto: This module is made up of colored pipes. Some are speakers, some are microphones. By singing, shouting, tapping on the microphones, visitors generate sounds that are multiplied, modulated and transformed by the installation.
