POSITION TO FILL
The company is seeking a cabinetmaker or assembler to join our creative team. You will actively participate in the design and creation of interactive exhibits and custom furniture for museum environments.
TASKS
- Perform cabinetmaking tasks to create structures and supports tailored to the needs of the exhibitions.
- Assemble components of interactive exhibits following precise plans.
- Apply various finishing techniques to ensure aesthetic quality and durability of the pieces.
- Collaborate with the design team to solve technical problems and improve prototypes.
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
RELATED TASKS
- Incorporate technological elements like touch screens and sensors into wooden structures.
- Create functional and aesthetic pieces adapted for public interaction.
- Work with curators, engineers, and technicians to meet the specific requirements of projects.
- Participate in the installation and offer support for maintenance and repairs.
- Design modular pieces that can be easily updated for different uses.
- Maintaining tools and equipment.
- Managing material stocks.
- Collaborating with other departments.
- Contributing to process improvement.
- Providing customer service during installation.
QUALITIES AND REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical Skills in Cabinetry: Mastery of woodworking techniques from design to realization.
- Design Knowledge: Understanding of design principles, including interaction design and scenography.
- Technological Aptitude: Ability to integrate interactive technologies (such as sensors, electronics, software) into wooden creations.
- Creativity and Innovation: Ability to design unique and captivating interactive experiences.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Aptitude for finding creative solutions to technical and design challenges.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in the fabrication and finishing of pieces.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with clients, collaborators, and team members.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and design trends.
- Academic Qualifications: A degree in design, cabinetry, applied arts, or a related field is preferable.
- Additional qualification: MIG/TIG welding is an asset.

- Contract or possibility of full-time employment.
- 6-month probationary period.
